A nucleotide isolated from a rough mutant of Salmonella typhimurium LT2 has been identified as uridine 5'-diphosphate L-rhamnose on the basis of chemical, enzymatic, and chromatographic analysis. Other nucleotide-linked sugars were isolated from this organism and tentatively identified as cytidine diphosphate abequose, cytidine diphosphate glucose, uridine diphosphate glucose, uridine diphosphate galactose, deoxythymidine diphosphate rhamnose, adenosine diphosphate hexose, and guanosine diphosphate mannose.
