An Escherichia coli membrane preparation catalyzes the formation of monopalmitin from glycerol 3-phosphate and palmityl acyl carrier protein. This preparation also catalyzes the formation of lysophosphatidic and phosphatidic acids from glycerol 3-phosphate and palmityl coenzyme A.
