d-Fructose 1-Phosphate Kinase, a New Enzyme Instrumental in the Metabolism of d-Fructose

T. E. Hanson 1 and R. L. Anderson 1

From the 1 From the Department of Biochemistry, Michigan State University, East Lansing, Michigan 48823

An inducible enzyme which phosphorylates d-fructose 1-phosphate with adenosine triphosphate to yield d-fructose 1,6-diphosphate has been identified and partially purified from extracts of d-fructose-grown Aerobacter aerogenes PRL-R3. Evidence is cited which supports the participation of this enzyme in d-fructose metabolism in this organism.
