A compound has been isolated from mild alkaline methanolysates of brain lipids and identified as 1-(l-3-glycerophosphoryl)-l-glycerol 3-phosphate. It is suggested that it is derived from a corresponding fatty acyl derivative, probably 1-(l-phosphatidyl)-l-glycerol 3-phosphate.
