Crystallization and preliminary X-ray investigation of calmodulin
WJ Cook, JR Dedman, AR Means and CE Bugg
Crystals of rat testis calmodulin, a multifunctional Ca2+-binding protein
have been grown from solutions of 2-methyl-2,4-pentanediol. The crystals
are triclinic, space group P1, with a = 29.79(4) A, b = 53.74(7) A, c =
24.78(3) A, alpha = 93.46(2)degrees, beta = 96.98(2)degrees, and gamma =
89.05(3)degrees. There is 1 calmodulin molecule per unit cell. The crystals
are quite stable to x-rays and diffract beyond 2.5 A resolution.
