About the Cover

Cover Figure

On the cover, the R1394H mutation in the SUR1 subunit of the KATP channel leads to PHHI (persistent hyperinsulinemic hypoglycemia of infancy). This mutation impairs trafficking of the channel to the plasma membrane by retaining it in the trans-Golgi network (the immunofluorescent background cell shows yellow spots indicating co-localization of the mutant channel with TGN46). Diazoxide, a drug used in the treatment of PHHI, corrects the defect (see inset). Details can be found in the article by Paartridge et al., pages 35947-35952.35947.
