About the Cover

Cover Figure

On the cover, lipid oxidation products stimulate mouse bone marrow hematopoietic progenitor cells to differentiate into multinucleated osteoclasts (red, tartrate-resistant acid phosphatase staining). This finding adds to the growing evidence of a link between oxidized lipids, high fat diet consumption, and the paradox of simultaneous vascular calcification and osteoporosis. For details see the article by Tintut et al., pages 14221-14226.
