About the Cover
The cover shows the fragmented DNA of three filamenting cells of Bacillus subtilis after exposure to the pyridochromanone depicted in the center. The pyridochromanones represent the first class of specific and potent inhibitors of NAD+-dependent DNA ligases. Their antibacterial activity proves the value of DNA ligase as a novel target in antibacterial therapy. For details see the article by Brotz-Oesterhelt et al., pages 39435-39442.
