About the Cover

Cover Figure

Fluorescent live cell imaging of EGFP-ataxin-7 (Q10) in human MCF7 cells with MitoTracker Red mitochondrial stain and Hoechst Blue DNA stain. Ataxin-7 is a member of the transcription mediator STAGA complex and highlights sites of active transcription in the nucleus with small puncta. Ataxin-7 also has the ability to shuttle to and from the nucleus, and this shuttling is inhibited by polyglutamine expansion in ataxin-7 that causes spinocerebellar ataxia type 7 neurodegenerative disease. Imaged by A. Burtnik. For details see the article by Taylor et al., pages 2730–2739.
