Cover Figure

On The Cover: MCM complex (purple) is sequentially phosphorylated by Cdk (yellow; white stars) and Cdc7 (green; pink stars) at the non-conserved N-terminal tails of MCM2, MCM4, and MCM6 proteins, and this phosphorylation facilitates binding of Cdc45 protein (blue) to MCM, promoting initiation of DNA replication. (Artwork was done by Taku Tanaka, and the background is electronmicroscopic images of MCM complex adapted with permission from Yabuta et al. (Yabuta, N., Kajimura, N., Mayanagi, K., Sato, M., Gotow, T., Uchiyama, Y., Ishimi, Y., and Nojima, H. (2003) Genes Cells 8, 413-421).) For details see the article by Masai et al., pages 39249–39261.
