The ketolactonase I system in Pseudomonas putida described by Conrad, Lieb, and Gunsalus (J. Biol. Chem., 240, 4029 (1965)), as a monoxygenase with the stoichiometry DPNH + O2 + ketone → DPN + H2O + lactone is separated into three types of protein components, and a specific function is assigned to each.
