Highlights of 2016
The editors at JBC are pleased to present this collection of papers as our "Highlights of 2016," including new chemical and genetic tools to probe receptor and inflammasome function, insights into the consequences of physical properties such as membrane curvature and contractility, and new molecular details of cellular reprogramming, microbial pathogenesis and the first pannexin-linked disease. While no group this small can fully capture the extent of exciting advances and new insights published in more than 2100 JBC papers in the past year, these articles are emblematic of the exciting and significant studies across the breadth of JBC’s scientific scope. The Highlights of 2016 are freely available - download and read them today!
The cover art shows a collage of lipid droplet fusion and growth induced by CIDE proteins (explored by Xu et al.), platelet progenitors expressing the neuronal biomarker BDNF (reported by Chacón-Fernández et al.) and a model of the pannexin channel (as investigated by Shao et al).
