On The Cover: The activation of an imprinted genomic region on mouse chromosome 12 correlates with the pluripotency levels of mouse stem cells. The cartoon mouse represents the genome source of the finding and livable pups derived from induced pluripotent stem (iPS) cells. Many iPS cell lines failed to generate full term developed animals, but the underlying mechanisms remain obscure. The work demonstrated that the degree of activation of an imprinted genomic region positively correlates with the pluripotency levels of mouse stem cells.
